Best Love Quotes from Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton
Haunting Adeline is a pitch-black dark romance book about a stalker, am author, and a cult. Gritty and raw, it is not for the faint of heart. I loved the pacing, the drama, and the angst of it all. And the MC is a total badass. Here are my favorite quotes:
“What you’re seeing now is what I see every day. No matter how far I run, how hard I try to escape you—you’re everywhere I go. You’re everything I see. Loving you is like being trapped in a house of mirrors, little mouse. And I’ve never felt so at home while being so lost inside you.”
“One day, you will realize that you are not trapped in a prison,” he murmurs roughly. “You are in my church where I am your God, and you are my equal. I’m not a jail, little mouse, I am your sanctuary.”
“Let me know which stars you prefer. The ones above you, or the ones I make you see.”
Best Love Quotes from God of Fury by Rina Kent
God of Fury is dark in the way that it offers an unflinching look at mental illness, trauma, and self-harm. It doesn’t shy away from graphic depictions of depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsions, and manic states that may be triggering to some readers. It’s also totally gay. Here are my favorite quotes:
“Anyone ever tell you how fucking hot you feel when struggling for control? I could swallow you alive and leave no crumbs.”
“How can a man be so fucking beautiful? The urge to kidnap him and keep him all to myself beats like a need beneath my skin.”
“I don’t even remember myself before him anymore. I certainly refuse the very notion of being separated from him.”
“I know that I’ll never let him go. Not even if I burn with him. For him. In him. I’d willingly catch fire if he so much as asked me to.”
“Even if you hate yourself, I’ll love you for the both of us.”
Best Love Quotes Light Out by Navessa Allen
Lights Out is hilarious, off-kilter, and endearingly awkward. It’s the masked man dark romance of the era. If “dark romance comedy” becomes a prolific subgenre, just know that Navessa Allen owned it first. Here are my favorite quotes:
“I closed my eyes and pictured myself sitting across from her at the dining table, watching her sip coffee as she woke up, her hair wild and lips bruised from what I’d done to them the night before.”
“My entire life was devoted to caring for others. I wanted someone to take care of me for once. I wanted someone to want me. No, need me. I wanted a man so obsessed that he hacked into cameras to watch me when he couldn’t sleep. I wanted him to monitor my location data, order me a home security system so no one else could break into my house, and threaten to murder anyone who hurt me. I didn’t want him morally grey. I wanted someone with a soul as black as night. Someone who would burn the world down for me and not lose a single minute of sleep over it.”
“Her body molded so perfectly to mine that it was like we were a matched set, made for each other. Our mouths worked in tandem like we had already done this a hundred times and knew exactly how the other liked it.”
“The woman was down for kinky sex, knew how I liked my coffee, and was more than willing to aid in the murder of a rapist. What had I done to get so lucky?”
“He made me feel alive. He’d dragged me out of the gray world I’d been living in and taught me how to see colors again.”
