Group chats? Nah. I have Discord servers for everything. Discord server for local friends. Discord server for international friends. Discord server for D&D. Discord server for board games. Discord server for video game communities. Discord server for podcasts I follow. EVERYTHING. So, yes, I also know of a few dark romance Discord servers worth checking out.
I’ll outline the different dark romance Discord servers I’ve found, highlight what I like about them, and mention if there are any barriers to entry (like approvals needed, etc.).
Dark Romance Book Club
Dark Romance Book Club is an 18+ Discord server that pops up on r/darkromance a lot, so it’s a natural progression if you already spend your time in that Reddit area. They have a Book of the Month event, book reviews, book recs, and channels for different authors so you can discuss their novels with other fans. This community is very active and currently one of my favorites. Come say hi: @ xarmyn.
To join: Use their link and follow the instructions. You will have to “emoji” a rules post and introduce yourself to get started.
The Next Chapter
The Next Chapter is a 21+ community for authors and readers to hang out and chat dark romance and smut. They also have horror and fantasy fanatics. Sample channels include: #Dark-Romance, #All-Things-Mafia, #Monster-Romance, and #Heavy-Trigger-Warning. My favorite element of the group is the #Recommendations channel, though, where you can post works you like and other members can suggest your next read. This server is NSFW.
To join: Discord account must be 1+ months old.
Dark Romance Book Club [no fire emoji]
Yes, there are two of them. Such is the world of dark romance Discord servers. This one is a bit quieter than the other one, with fewer uses and infrequent posts. If you are a chatter, not just a lurker, you will do well here. It could also be a good opportunity to make some real friends, seeing as it’s a much more intimate crew. No one has posted in #floofs yet, upon my joining, which seems criminal tbh.

The Bookish Mansion
The Bookish Mansion is a 21+ book themed server that prides itself on being a queer-inclusive space. It is also vehemently anti-AI, so look elsewhere if you want to share NanoBanana-generated pics of Zane Meadows or whatever. They have a mix of SFW and NSFW content but are big on boundaries, respect, and consent.
To join: Fill out their application form and someone will let you in. From there, read the rules and “emoji” them to be allowed to participate.
Shadow & Spice Society
Shadow & Spice Society is an 18+ server that is not inherently dark romance focused, but it pops up everywhere due to the nature of the group. They have channels for #book-hauls, #all-things-books, and #currently-reading, for example, but you are welcome to bring any genre you want to the table. A great choice if dark romance is just one of your fave genres, but you want to chat more generally.

EROS Book Lovers Club!!!
EROS Book Lovers Club!!! (the exclamation points are essential) is a tight-knit community of dark romance readers who also chat about other topics on occasion. They are really about building a community, not just chatting book recs, and I love that they have channels for things like #never-have-I-ever, #trauma-dump, and #birthday-wishes. This one is an all ages server, though, so watch what you post and who you interact with.

Masktok
Does this have anything to do with books? Who cares! We love a good masked men trope here. You will need to verify your account and your real identiy/age to join. This is because there is IRL dirty talk, roleplaying, etc. here, so it’s critical that minors not be admitted. If you are looking for spicy chats, this is where to go. Oh yeah, you can also talk about books or whatever, I’m sure.
To join: They will send you an AuthenticateMe link via DM. You must have a verified email or phone number for it to work. To access most of the server, you need to verify your identity using Ageify Bot. You will have to upload photo ID!
Unofficial J.F. Page’s Court
This is a fan server for the dark romance author J. F. Page, who wrote The Songbird’s Shadow. The Songbird’s Shadow is a dark romance stalker novel with a list of content warnings (yum). If you enjoyed J. F. Page’s work, this would be a great place to get sneak peeks at upcoming titles. She only has one book out now, so it’s impressive that she has such a dedicated fanbase already!
Join: You don’t have to “emoji” their rules to have the channels open up to you, but if you don’t you risk removal from the server.
